This Sūrya-gāyatrī-mantra is one of the many Śākhā-gāyatrī-mantra-s and is dedicated and to the Sun.

Regardless of age and gender, anyone can chant this mantra and the best time to recite this mantra is the auspicious period of Brahma Muhurtha (1 hour 30 minutes before the sunrise). It is even better to offer water in a copper utensil to the Sun and then recite these chants.
